Today is the last day to file for California Governor. By midnight, every candidate who intends to run must be on record with the Secretary of State. After that, the field is frozen. No new entries. No second chances. The ballot is set.

For Take Back California PAC, this is the moment we've been building toward. The entire top-two strategy — dual endorsements, dual donor lists, coordinated spend — depends on one critical question that gets answered tonight:

Do the Democrats stay fractured — or does someone consolidate?

What We're Watching Tonight

Confirm

Both Bianco and Hilton file

Two strong Rs on the ballot = strategy is live

Watch

Final Democrat candidate count

More Democrats = more vote splitting = better odds for the top-two play

Hope For

No last-minute R consolidation

A third credible Republican entering would dilute both Bianco and Hilton

What Comes After the Deadline

Filing closes tonight, but the ballot isn't instantly locked. The Secretary of State must certify each candidate — a process that takes several weeks. Once that certification drops, we'll have the official, final list of who California voters will choose from in June.

That's the next chapter. The moment ballot certification is announced, we'll send a full breakdown: the complete field, updated probability numbers from the simulator, and what it means for our strategy going into primary season.

NEXT MILESTONE: BALLOT CERTIFICATION — WE'LL SEND THE FULL FIELD ANALYSIS THE MOMENT IT DROPS.

Between now and then, every dollar we raise goes toward building the infrastructure to turn a 25% probability into a reality: digital outreach, voter contact, coalition building. The window is open. We need to use it.
